Vacation in Fayetteville, NC
I had a great time on vacation in NC this past month. I was trying to meet up with my 22 year old son but that didn’t work out to well. That is ok. My heart and arms are always open to my son when he wants to connect. I sure didn’t win the medal for being the best divorced dad. Far from it! Sure, I wasn’t a total scumbag but I sure could have done better. No question about it. But one can’t cry over spilled milk. Right? I just need to learn from my mistakes and be a better person. I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to have a son, even though I only spent the first five years of his life together with him. I am just thankful that, from the last time I connected with him, he is doing well.
But my visit to Fayetteville was not a total disaster. Far from it! I was able to connect with my long time military buddy and his wife, John and Jennifer. They are a terrific couple. John was my own personal chauffeur. He spoiled me by taking me throughout the area, including where I used to live in St. Pauls, North Carolina.
One of the coolest things we did was spend a couple hours at the “Airborne & Special Operations Museum Foundation,” off of Fort Bragg Road. In fact, most of my pictures I took were about this museum. It was fascinating! It provided the whole history from World War 1 all the way to current about Special Forces. The folks who brought in money to have this museum created to those who did the great work did a fabulous job. Thank you! I am so proud to be an American. And the day I visited this museum with John I felt even more pride for our country. You can learn more about this great museum by going here to http://www.asomf.org/index.php.
Thank you to the men and women of America for serving in our military! For serving in war torn areas! For giving your blood for our country! For giving your life for our country! But most of all, thank you for sharing your life with others so that we can be thankful each day to live in this great country of ours, the United States of America!
