Arizona Flying in January
My buddy, Austin is in a private airplane club here in Chandler, Arizona. He invites me throughout the year to be a passenger and go to different areas in Arizona with him. His flying club has three planes currently and they fly out of Stellar Airpark, Chandler Arizona. Austin also does blood drives as part of his volunteer thing and so we go to different cities like Yuma and Sedona in Arizona. Then we also do breakfast trips and meet a whole bunch of flying guys and gals at another town for breakfast which is usually at the airport. It is really fun and a great way to see Arizona and meet other folks who love flying.

This trip we did on New Year’s and it was a blast. Three of us flew up to Payson and then up to Show Low. We had breakfast at the airport in Payson and dropped/picked up a box of blood in Show Low. I have never been to the Ar izona White Mountains and it was really cool! The most popular White Mountain destinations are Alpine, Heber/Overgaard, Greer, Payson, Pinetop/Lakeside, Show Low, Snowflake/Taylor, and Springerville. Most Americans think Arizona is all dessert. Far from it! About 75 percent of Arizona (north of Phoenix) is mostly high desert and mountains. Yep, we also are the Grand Canyon State!
Austin is wanting me to get my pilot’s license. I would love to! 10k out the door and I can fly. Sign me up! But I would only enjoy the taking off and landing parts. The in-between, for me, is a bit boring unless I was a passenger just chilling out! Plus, I LOVE scuba diving more at this time.
Cheers from the great State of Arizona! Scuba Diving Doug
