dive Vacation in Carlsbad, California

I had a great vacation time with family this Thanksgiving, November 2013. Dad had a fabulous idea last year about renting a house on the beach and getting all the boys together with their families. My youngest brother and his wife with three superb kids came from Washington State.  My middle brother with his wife came from Indiana. Then there was Dad and our bonus mom (my awesome step-mom) and of course, me. 4 rooms and I had the privilege of sleeping on the couch in the living room. Yes, I call it a privilege because I was able to fall asleep listening to the waves crashing on the beach. Now that was very therapeutic!

Four days and three nights was great fun. My two nieces (7 and almost 2 years old) and my nephew (5 years old) knew how to keep the adults energetic. I do love kids but, I must say, I also love my quiet man cave here in Arizona. But short burst of change is good.

It was too cold for the water but I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with family and spending time on the beach. We did go to Legoland for the day (well for me about 3 hours) and the kids had a blast.

I tried out my new iPad camera and the shots you see on this page are mostly from there. I do love sunsets and sunrises and try to take as many pictures as I can. However, as you know, watching sunsets in person is triple the fun! Pictures only can grasp so much but being in person is just amazingly cool, especially when there is a very awesome sunset to behold.

I am proud to be an American, I sure am blessed with a wonderful family.  My Dad is an amazing Christian man who is my hero here on earth.  My bonus mom is such a blessing to have in our family.  As the oldest brother, I realized how blessed I am to have great younger brothers.  No, we don’t see eye to eye on things and that is ok.  I just am immensely proud of my two brothers and where they are in their lives at this time.

It was a great short vacation trip but I sure missed my queen size bed and pillows.  Hello bed! Hello pillows!  Hello quiet!  Boy did I miss you all!

Cheers. Diving Doug
