Clown Fish

Jakarta International SchoolClownfish!  Yep, they are cool looking for sure.  I have been diving now for around 8 years and love taking pictures of these clownfish.  Did you know that all clownfish are born male?  Then when they pair off with another clownfish the dominant individual becomes a female.  Did you also know there are true clownfish and false ones?  Yep, I am still trying to learn more about them but I know I have seen both.

The “edumacated” name of clownfish are called anemonefish.   But for this bald headed guy I call them “different types of Nemos” from the movie “Finding Nemo!”  Simple, sweet, and yes very “edumacated (educated).”

I decided to collect some of the coolest pictures I took of the many “little Nemos” of this world and put them in one area.  I totally love hovering in an area where they are and trying to take the “shot!”  But alas, I have a long way to be one of the best.  But as they said, even the experts started from somewhere.  Right?

Most of my scuba diving is now around Indonesia.  I am working on going to all the major, as well as newer, dive areas.  Bali is always my center point for diving  each year when I go to Indonesia. I have been diving there for the last six years.  I also dive outside of Indonesia for sure.  I am heading on my second dive trip to the Solomon Islands on the Bilikiki dive boat with great folks I dove with a few years ago!  Will be headed there next summer (2015), Lord willing!  Then headed with my dive shop here in Phoenix Metro to the Maldives in a couple of years.  But the next major two dives I have set up is to Hawaii in a couple months and Raja Ampat in Indonesia next March (2015).  Can’t wait!  I also have a couple dive trips planned with my friends to Belize and Bonaire next year.  So I will be searching out clownfish pics and videos on my dive travels and putting them online here at Doug’s Dive Corner!
